Debt settlement companies are usually a fraud or waste of time. More people have been hurt than you can imagine by trusting in one of these so called debt relief companies. You would be better served by contacting the companies yourself and trying to reach a settlement although you may not have a great deal of success. If all else fails, you should retain an attorney who can negotiate for you.
