Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I wrote earlier that I just had a judgement placed against me from a credit card that was only in my name. I live in florida and am on the deed to my house with my husband . THe mortgage is in my husbands name. We also own a car that is financed and we owe more then the car is worth. I do not work I collect SS . I asked if they could take our home or car The lawyer responded that I should receive a Claim of Exemption and Request for Hearing that I must fill out and send back with 20 days. What does that mean. Today in the mail I received the judgement and a" Fact Information Sheet " which I am required to mail back within 45 days. It ask questions of my bank information and where I work ,stocks things like that it also asked for my husbands social security # and where he works . Is this the same as the Claim of Exemption and also would my husband be responsible for my bill when he was not on this account. We don't have alot of money. I have no savings account only a checking and we just about get by with what we have.

The form you received is not the Claim of Exemption form. You received a different form.

Your husband is not responsible for your bill.

You should get help from a lawyer. Although you probably can't be garnished or have property seized, based on what you've said, it would be good to confirm this with a lawyer in person. Also, you may end up with a lien on your house.
