Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
In 2004, I had false charges brought against me. I went to court and the "plaintiff" wasn't there. The "Court Minutes" I received afterwards say, "State filed a Nolle Prosequi in open court." Does that mean the issue is totally gone. Does it still exist? If a background check was done, would it still show up?

Well, it appears the charges were dismissed so you have not been convicted of anything. However, if you were arrested, the arrest will still show up on a background check. If you have no prior record and you are otherwise eligible, you should look into getting the arrest sealed or expunged. Feel free to contact me as I handle sealing and expunging.
