Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Im 18, my girlfriend of 2 years is 17. Her parents dont approve of us and are wanting to press charges on me for anything they can so that I cant communicate with there duaghter anymore. What kind of trouble am I looking at if I refuse to stop contacting her?
1 Answer from Attorneys
So long as you never had any sexual contact of any kind before her 16th birthday, then legally there is nothing criminally wrong. However, by going against her parents, you are setting yourself up for any little thing that they can find to use against you, whether they are true or not. Don't chance it. Wait until she is 18. Also, if you did have sex before her 16th birthday, talk to an attorney immediately as you could face criminal charges and up to 15 years in prison and be labeled a sex offender.
