Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
16 year old in car with 20. Car got pulled over. In car back seat there was alcohol. 16 had no knowledge of alcohol. 20 year old admitted to office it was his. Office wrote citation 562.111.1 to 16 year old. Even after the 20 year olds admission. What should I do? Should we hire an attorney for the court date? Why would the 16 year old still get a citation?

I suggest you retain local counsel to represent the minor. It sounds as though there may be a problem with the State's case as the facts do not appear to bear out a possession of alcohol by a minor offense. Additional information is required to fully & adequately discuss your options, but speaking with an attorney is a good first step.
