Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My 35 year old daughter has been arrested 3 times for petit theft in Florida over the course of 4 years. She has a bi-polar disorder and each time she has gone off of her meds, this is what happened. She just finished probation within the last year and looked like she was on the right path. But again, she went off her meds and was arrested for shoplifting. She sees a counselor and a psychiatrist and has so for over 8 years. She has rheumatoid arthritis and other health conditions..is on diability. What is the likelihood that she will face a prison sentence this time? She is a single mother and has a 7 year old son. They both live with us.
1 Answer from Attorneys
It is very likely and she is probably facing a felony which has a max penalty of 5 years. She needs to either hire an attorney or get a public defender as soon as possible.
