Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My 16 year old daughter just got caught shoplifting in the state of florida, this is her first offense. They didn't call the police just retrieved the nineteen dollars worth of merchandise and took her information. I'm waiting on a letter to come in the mail with a court date. What are her charges most likely to be?

Probably retail theft or petit theft. Of course, it may be nothing comes of it and they just ban her from the store. Were police called? If so, then you can probably expect a letter. One final note, if you get a letter saying pay $200 from the store understand that by paying it does NOT have any effect on any criminal proceeding. You should talk to a lawyer in your area.
