Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I am a 48 year old male who has been mentoring a 17 year old male on everything from school work to relationships. He can't speak with his mom about things because he is gay and her religion is against this. She never met me but discovered emails and now thinks I'm a predator. It is NON SEXUAL. He's more like a family member. Is this legal.

As you pose your question, yes it is legal. However, despite your innocence on the matter, the mother may see it differently, which means they can get law enforcement involved, and sometimes law enforcement draws different conclusions. I would suggest you limit your contact for now to possible phone calls and avoid emails and texts if possible as that will prove a written record which could be taken out of context.
