Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I'm a 29 year old widow (female) with a 3 year old daughter. I met this great guy that has a 7 year old son. He just told me something from his past that he wanted me to know. When he was 19 he met a girl in a club. They were together a short time. He later found out she lied and that she was only 15. Too late, her parents pressed charges and he was charged with second degree rape. He was put on 10 year probation and is listed as a sex offender. Then 2 years later he violated his probation and served 5 to 6 years in prison. He is now 31 and has changed his life.

My question is do I continue to see him. What is the law about sex offenders in Florida. Can I get in trouble or lose my daughter because of him.

Only you can answer the question as to whether you should continue to see him. I will say that his story is not uncommon and there are many people listed as sex offenders that were convicted under similar circumstances. If you feel he's changed his life and he's honest with you then take in that consideration. As far as losing your daughter, that is probably not likely, but you may want to talk to a family law attorney if there are other parties that have concerns about him.
