Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
18yr. old bounced check
My sister was arrested two days ago for failing to appear in court 18yrs. ago for a bounced check. She knows nothing of the bounced check nor a warrant out for her at that time. She has continued to live in the same area all this time, voting, jury duty, etc.
She was in Mich. in Dec. 1986 when they ''served her the warrant'' and didn't arrive back in Fla. until Jan of '87. Our dad had a stroke.
The court says they have no paper trail on her..not even a copy of the bad check..nothing...yet she had to pay a bondsman $500.00 and put her house up for $5,000.
If there is no paper trail, what can possibly happen...or what can she do in the meantime?
If they can't find anything, is she entitled to her $500.00 back?
She is in shock!! We are in shock!! Thank you

Re: 18yr. old bounced check
Sounds a little fishy to me. It is going to be very hard for them to prove anything w/o a check. Don't do anything w/o speaking to an attorney. Please call my offfice at (248) 737-7000 we will help!! Eric I Kutinsky, Esq
