The purpose of the following response is for informational, educational and discussion purposes only. Legal advice can only be given after a full consultation. Engaging in this correspondence does not constitute an attorney/client relationship.

You should not speak to the police about the investigation again without an attorney present. Ordinarily law enforcement would not act on the information from an admitted burglar, but with so many independent affidavits claiming to support the allegations, law enforcement may feel compelled to investigate further. With a crushed spinal cord, your pain management regiment probably includes a larger than usual quantity of narcotic pain killers and muscle relaxers. Innocently sharing those meds is a felony. An over zealous vice detective could see you as an easy major arrest. You should sit down with an attorney to discuss all of the surrounding facts, and any statements youve already made.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

This is a very serious matter. It is an example of the old maxim that "no good deed goes unpunished". You may wish to consult with a criminal attorney regarding the specifics of your matter. You should not talk to the police without an attorney present. If you cannot afford an attorney, see if the Broward County Bar Association has a low cost referral program. If not, refuse to speak with the police or sheriff until they press charges and an attorney is assigned to you.
