Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

acess to my son's discovery at his request

My son is charged with a double homicide and they are seaking the death penalty. He is being represented by the public defenders office. He has been incarcerated for 3 years with little to no moves on his behalf. He filed a complaint with the FL. bar association and his attorney was removed. He was retiring in a month so He cannot care.My son needs all the help he can get and he is not allowed acess to a law library and I do.His new public defender gave me some of my son''s discovery but none of the picture,DNA evidence, note, by the medical examiners,cd,dvd's he said need to be copied and he would send them to me.I live in GA. the case is in FL. that was over 2 months ago. He has given me many excuses now he told my son I couldn't have them because I am a state witness. What does that have to do with my sons request.I have found alot out about this case.It is all circumstantial. My question is my son has told his attorney to give me everything in the dicovery, not to hold anything back shouldn't his wishes be respected.I feel like the state and public defenders office is working together and so does my son !

Get a new lawyer. You've put your son's very life in the hands of a lawyer you don't believe in. In my life, I've known hundreds of public defenders. Some of them were incredibly talented professionals. Some of them, well, let's just say they weren't.

Sometime when you hire a free lawyer, you get what you pay for.

I'm sure you're worried about how you'll afford a private lawyer. I'd be worried about how you'll afford not to. Listen to me: find a good, private criminal defense attorney, and find that lawyer right away. Your son's life depends on it.
