What is the difference between Adjudication Withheld and Adjudication Deferred?

An adjudication is a conviction. An adjudication deferred, or withheld, is not a conviction. It is as if the court says "We could convict you, but we are choosing not to at this time." It is a way to get a second chance, in a way. Whether you are adjudicated or the adjudication is withheld could have legal ramifications.
