Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

My adult son was recently arrested for shoplifting so fishing lures at Walmart, a very stupid thing on his part I admit. The Police officer who arrested him transferred him to two different police precincts before finally driving him home and releasing him the same night. The police report copy that she gave him stated that the incident happened and she had investigated the crime on 6/6/2016 and made the decision that he should be arrested. However, the incident actually happened on 6/4/2016 and she arrested him that night. Is there anyway to get the charges dropped due to this error? He just moved here and I am trying to help him get his life together, stop drinking that kind of thing. He was due to start a new job on the 6th but she refused to give him back his ID which he needed to begin the job, it took us two days to get it and his belongings from the police department, making it so that he had to wait till this week to start working. Is there anything we can do at this point.

Probably not dismissed, but hiring a smart lawyer may allow them to file a motion to make the state going forward difficult. As far as the ID, it is your son's property and he is absolutely entitled to get it back. Otherwise it is theft on their part.
