age of consent
if any 18 year old has consentual sex with his 17 year old girl friend (she turns 18 in 10 days) is there any risk he may run from a legal perspective, from her or her parents

YES. This is what is referred to as "Statutory Rape". The idea is that a person under 18 does not have the ability to consent legally. They're somewhat recently passed a statute referred to as the "Romeo and Juliet" law which means that this offense would not cause a violator to be classified as a "Sex Offender", but you can still be prosecuted. Consent is not a legal defense to the charge.
