armed robbery/armed burglaries

my 18 y/o son is being offered 10 yrs minimum mandatory for armed robbery and armed burglaries- first offense. isnt he eligible for youthful offenders? would this be for 6 yrs?does his crimes disqualify him for this? if he gets 10 yrs min mand- would he qualify for gain time?

He does qualify for youthful offender, but youthful offender requires the consent of the judge or the prosecutor. If he gets the 10 years minimum mandatory, he would qualify for very little gain time, and he would end up serving almost all of the 10 years.

Your son is in serious trouble. There is no gain time on a mandatory sentence. Getting internet advice is not a good way to help him. I would seek private counsel. Many if us have reasinable fees.
