Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I was arrested for an empty bag of cocaine found in my car Tuesday night. I was bonded out Wednesday afternoon. I was charged with possession of cocaine. My friend who was with me was arrested with possession of marijuana under 20 grams and drug paraphernalia. He was bonded as well. He has an arraignment date and I do not. Is this a good thing or a bad thing.

It is neither good nor bad. It is unknown at this point. I suggest you talk to your attorney who can then talk to the prosecutor to see the status of your case.

It sounds like he was charged with misdemeanors. You were charged with a felony. That was the most likely reason for the difference in your statuses. By law misdemeanors must be tried much quicker than felonies so they must start the process faster. It would be wise to speak with an attorney since you are facing a more serious charge.

Neither good nor bad. The speed with which an arraignment is set has no bearing on case outcome.

Speak with an attorney who can review the report all evidence in your case and your defense.
