Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Must one be arrested before a grand jury hearing can take place regarding ones alleged crime? In other words, is it required that an individual (i.e. alleged criminal) be "officially" arrested prior to a grand jury hearing/meeting regarding the matter/their case--or does/can a grand jury meet to decide whether or not an alleged criminal need be arrested at all?

An arrest is not required before a grand jury hearing occurs. If the grand jury concludes that a crime has been committed, an arrest warrant will be issued.

No. A formal arrest does not have to occur.
