Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I got arrested for petit theft while I was was in line waitibg to pay for my grocerys?How can it be stealing if I didnt pass the register?

Did you conceal it? Did you intend to take the item? Did you make any admissions? You don't have to pass the register, and in fact could still be in the middle of shopping. This doesn't mean you don't have any defenses, but I strongly suggest you get an attorney in the area where you got arrested.
