Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
If you got arrested for shoplifting, and got charged with petit theft 812.014(3)(A), with a bond amount of $250, FSS/ORD 812.014.3a, what is likely to happen at the court trial? (this is a first offense, no other criminal record)

Hello,
This would be 2nd Degree Misdemeanor, punishable up to 60 days in jail and $500 fine. If this is a first offense, prosecutors likely would offer a plea without jail time (if they have enough evidence to proceed). Just make sure, if accepting a plea, the plea is an "adjudication withheld" so the record can be later sealed.
Good luck,
Karen
