Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Assalt of customer by business owner

My boyfriend was assalted today at a tire place by the owner of the business. My boyfriend never threw a punch, but was punched 3 times in the face, had hair ripped out, and was bitten by the man (it drew blood). He went to the police, but the officer taking the report was a friend of the man who assalted him. He also went to the hospital to have his wound checked and an X-Ray of his nose. Is there anything that we can do to ensure this man doesn't do this to someone else? Is there a way to get that officer of the case?

Does it sound like we have a good chance of getting assalt charges pressed against him? He is also the fire marshall (the man who assalted him)...does that have any empact on the case?

Also is it slander to tell others what honestly happened? How about to post it on the Internet without names?

Thanks

You may want to report this officer to his supervisor or to internal affairs. You might also want to report the incident to the State Attorney's Office, which also has the power to bring criminal charges. Of course, you could consider a battery lawsuit against him as well.

The truth is never slander.
