Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Auto Theft

I'm a 62 years old disabled widow, 6 months ago I took in my 44 years old brother who was homeless trying to help him rebuilt his life. I have even lend him a car & paid the insurance so he could go to work. Things have not worked out as he continues to drink, spend everything on prostitues and possibly back into drugs. I asked him to find himself another place and return the vehicle so I could sell it. Four days ago he did not return to my home nor have I seen the car since. Concerned I contacted the Sheriff's Dept., firts to make sure he was alrigh and there was no fowel play. Contact was made with him by the Sheriff's Dept. (who failed to let me know) and was adviced to get in touch with me right of way. He has not done that, rather he was spotted going away from the area. I've never filed a stolen report before and don't know what all it entailes nor do I want to send him to jail if it can be prevented. I would just like the car back and for him to get his things and move. Can you please advice me? Thank you

Re: Auto Theft

To get him out of the house, you'll have to evict him, which involves giving him a 30-day notice to vacate your premises. If you can't get the car keys back from him (which would involve him voluntarily bringing the car back), your best bet is to report it stolen. That means he'll probably go to jail. No good deed goes unpunished.
