Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Back in nov 2010 I went to a neibhors house when I found out my girlfriend was in his house and they ignored my phone calls. I banged on the door and pushed him aside and yelled for her to come down. Afterwards the next day he said the police came and he had injuries because of his previous medical conditions. He then called on me to give him money for not pressing charges on me. I ageed being in the vulnerable state of mind I was in. I told him that when I can save enough money I would pay him the 2000 that he wanted. As time went by I began to realize how rediculous this was. Now 6 mos later he is threatning a deadline or he's gonna have my wages garnished he has sent me a letter and in the letter he cc,s his attorney and is threatning to call my employment he claims that I beat him up and feels I should pay for him not involving the police, that's more or less what the letter says. Does he have any ground to stand on please help

This really isn't a criminal question since it is a practical reality that criminal charges can't be filed at this time. As far as garnishing wages, there would have to be a hearing and for that matter a civil case would have had to have been filed in the first place. It could be an idle threat but I suggest you talk to a civil attorney and show them the letters you received and they can properly advise you.
