Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
bad checks
What happens in the case of going to court for 2 outstading bad checks, 1 a felony, 1 a misdemeanor.
We moved and didn't leave a forwarding address on file and got stopped for a cracked headlight when it was brought to our attention about these outstanding checks. If we go to court and have the money to pay theses then and there ($426.00), and have no previous offenses at all what most likely will happen?

Re: bad checks
Well... it depends. IF you have no priors, and the State Atty. is cool then perhaps you could offer to pay the outstanding amount in exchange for a with-hold of adjudication or possible dismissal. BUT these cases are often easy for the State to prove so WATCH-OUT. Best advice; go to court with an a criminal defense atty who will have your best interests in mind. WHY? Because a felony charge is nothing to fool around with if you are unfamilar with the legal system. GOOD LUCK...
