Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
bad checks
I worked for a company in Florida, I was a 1099 employee that was the authorized signer for checks when the president was out. The company has since gone out of business and I am currently involved in a lawsuit against the company for unpaid wages. I recently received a letter from the state attorney's office demanding that I make good on a check that bounced for office rent that I signed. I do not understand why I am being sought after for this and not the company. I am going to seek out a local attorney but I am looking for some immediate answers.

Re: bad checks
I think the immediate answer is that you are not liable unless there was fraud on your part.
