Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
battery
My ex boyfriend threw me around and a witness saw it and called the police, he is a convicted felon, but i do not wish to press charges anymore. Is there a way that i can have these charges dismissed? If not what sentence might be issued for this sort of crime?

Re: battery
You can contact the State Attorney and request a waiver of prosecution. They can still proceed since they have a witness, but will have a reluctant victim. Battery is a misdemeanor punishable up to one year in the county jail.
