Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

My bf had an incident with a police officer that landed him in jail for a few months. He was riding his motorcycle with 3 people and one of the people got stopped for speeding. My bf was not speeding and the officer tried to stop him by walking in the middle of the road, my bf who was doing the speed limit had to swerve from running the officer over because the officer was in his way, the officer threw his flashlight hitting my bf's helmet almost causing him to crash, so he just took off on his bike in fear for his life. My bf was arrested for fleeing and eluding and agg. assault on a leo. Eventually the State dropped the charges against him because they did not have a case against him and he had witnesses saying that he was not trying to run the officer over. So he spent 3 months in jail, lost his job and motorcycle and couldn't not get another job because of this whole thing. So how would we go about suing this officer for damages.

You probably don't go about suing the officer because 1) your boyfriend wasn't physically harmed and 2) the police are mostly immune from these types of lawsuits.

But you can speak to a personal injury lawyer and see if he or she can find some way to sue. They generally offer free consultations.
