Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I believe I'm being blackmailed I started talking to a girl on a dating app. Her profile stated she was 18. We started texting and I ended up sending an explicit photo. Now someone portraying to be her father I do not know for sure if it is or not is asking me to send $1,000 to his rush card or western union or he will go to the authorities and contact my chain of command. What should I do?
1 Answer from Attorneys
You should contact an attorney immediately. If it turns out she is not 18, then that could be a major problem. Paying it does NOT get rid of the problem. The attorney may or may not suggest you call the police because you are right that it is blackmail, but since there are so many variables that can't be discussed on this forum you should meet with an attorney in person ASAP.
