Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Bond Contracts

I bailed a friend out of jail 2 times this yr. He did not comply with any conditions of the bond contract. He owes me

around 13,000.00 and hasn't made any attempts to pay me back. Didn't sign his truck over to me as collateral, found out it's not in his name. I had put my home up as collateral for his bond.I did have him sign a paper to this effect. Didn't tell me or bond co. about prior feleonies(3) or 2 traffic arrests. What are my legal rights and can I bring criminal charges against him.

Re: Bond Contracts

You may have entered into an oral contract with him that may be binding. Because the amount is under $15K you can file a Civil action in County Court. However, if he has no money to give you if you prevail you are throwing "good" money at "bad" money. I didn't see any criminal offenses that you could report to law enforcement in your description of events. Looks like a contract situation.
