Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
my boyfriend was arrested with four counts of burglary and four counts of grand theft he and some of his friends broke into a bar and stole 8 bottles or liquir and also an ipod. He has never been in trouble before this is his first offence, he doesnt have a lawyer should he get one? and what might the punishment be?

He needs an attorney to zealously represent him. A burglary of a structure is a third degree felony punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison. Grand theft is also a third degree felony punishably by a maximum of 5 years in prison. They can be run consecutively so he could get more than 5 years. If he has other charges, like a burglary of a dwelling, then he would face even more. Bottom line: he needs a lawyer.
