Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Broke up with girlfriend after 1 year living together. She said to call and we would date every Saturday. I called but she said she was busy for 1 month. After that I tried to call and left no message, She never answered. I never drove by her home, her work, or saw her for 3 months, but called and hung up and then texted B@TCH to her. I never left any message, no threats, nothing, just let it ring to see if she would answer, a few times a month. 2 days ago I had a voicemail from the police, but I got scared and deleted it without listening and then changed my phone number. I was unemployed for 10 weeks and finally got a Security Officer job, which I will lose if arrested for harassment, whcih I feel she made a report of. I neve felt I was harassing. I just wanted an answer and closure. I do not feel there was any harm or threat. If I go to the station will the police just tell me to leave her alone or will they arrest me for harassment and now they cannot call me with a new number. I am so scared they will have a warrant out. I will lose my job, apartment, and have $200 in the bank. Should an attorney go with me or call. I sit and cry and did not do a crime and never would try to scare her and am not angry. I am 55 years old and cannot go through this stress
1 Answer from Attorneys
Probably, there is no problem. I would not go and talk to the police without first consulting an attorney. I would not talk to them except in the presence of an attorney, or, even better, have the attorney find out what's going on. For sure, just put her behind you and do not try to contact her again.
