my brother was arrested saturday and they havent told him why and he has no court date yet. how long can they hold him without a charge?

They can't hold him without charge. He has the right to immediately know what he's being charged with. They can hold him for 21 days without filing a formal charging document before he is entitled to a hearing for ROR, but they must tell him the charges immediately. He is also entitled to a hearing befoe the judge within 24 hours of being arrested. You should speak with a criminal lawyer immediately.
