Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

My brother pleaded 'no contest' to attempted sexual battery of a minor. He has served 7yrs of a 20yr sentence in a FL state prison. I have done some research for ways to reduce his sentence. However, I'm not exactly sure what needs to be done for a Sentence Reduction. Is it a Clemency? Can you please give me some direction as to what we can do? Also, is he eligible for parole?

Thank you

Kathy

Your brother has 30 days from sentencing to file an appeal, so he can't do a motion to reduce his sentence at this juncture. Florida has also abolished parole so that is also not going to happen (unless it is a case before 1994 or so). Clemency is probably his only option. There are usually forms at the prison that he can prepare and send to the governor, but be aware that, while not impossible, it is difficult and can take several years before he receives an answer.
