Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Burglary
My boyfriend has been charged with Burglary and Grand Theft. The girl whose apartment it was that called the cops is pressing charges but we are told she is moving and might not be here for the court date. If she is not there then is the case dropped? Or if it is not dropped is there a better chance for my boyfriend if she isn't there?

Re: Burglary
Victims are not required to attend court dates until trial.
Re: Burglary
That information might certainly be something you can eventually use to your advantage. It may help you get the prosecutor to offer a better plea, or, potentially have the case dismissed if the prosecutor cannot get the witness there on the day of trial.
However, the charges your boyfriend is facing are very serious. If convicted, he could be sentenced to many years in state prison. If he does not already have a lawyer, he needs to get one immediately to discuss how he is going to defend against these charges.
