are there any cases where mental illness caused school violence

Are you taking a survey? I imagine that mental illness is a factor in a lot of school violence, and in fact, violence in general. Of course, one's definition of mental illness, and one's definition of what constitutes violence factor into your question. Read newspaper articles and see how often it comes up.
