Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I was caught shoplifting (total was $52, and will be a misdemeanor) but not arrested. I do have to go to court though, and am unsure about pleading guilty or no contest. I know they have proof, so I'm leaning towards guilty but I would want this expunged and dont know if I could still if I do plead guilty in the state of FL. Could I still expunge it if I do plead guilty?

I recommend you consult with an attorney regarding your options before simply conceding the case. Whether you plea guilty or no contest, you will not be eligible to expunge this matter from your record, as you can only expunge it if it is dropped/dismissed. That being said, you may be eligible for diversion, which would allow you to expunge the charge from your record so long as you are otherwise qualified.
