Witness lists are a part of what is called the discovery disclosure process in which each party has to show all evidence and name all witnesses that they intend to use in a potential trial. If the state attorney has any witnesses he or she must disclose them to you and your attorney. Your attorney must do the same if he or she intends to use witnesses. Often however, the witness list may just consist of the arresting officer. Hence, the list that you have noticed does not mean that there is an independent witness for your charge. If you don't have an attorney yet, it is unlikely that the witness list was there to help you, and in fact it may have been the state's witness list.
