Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
possible charges/mom/juvenile
my son is a juvenile that has been arressted and charged as an adult,
he been in custody for 6 wks,his public defender tells me she can't discuss his case with me even though he is a minor. I've had to track down who his P/D will be, she's never contacted me to ask any question concerning my son case,
Is it possible that she's going to have me charged in accordance to my son case based on information that only he's given, as a defense to his actions that caused him to commit crimes?

The public defender cannot charge anyone with a crime. His or her job is to defend the accused and not to file any charges which is the job of the state attorney's office. Without further information, it is impossible for any attorney to guess as what the prosecutor may be thinking. Please understand that your son is the client of the public defender. Without your son providing consent, the public defender is prohibited by the Florida Bar Code of Ethics from discussing his case with you.
