Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Given a citaition for underage possesion of alcohol while on spring break in Florida. I am from Ohio. The officer told me I would be charged with a misdemeanor. I was given a court date but the officer said I would just have to pay a fine and the charges would be dropped. Will this remain on my record and if so, will it affect my chances of getting a professional job?

Yes it will remain on your record. It will not just be "dropped". This is a criminal offense where you face up to 60 days in jail, but an attorney may be able to get it down to just a fine. You are either going to need to go to the court date or you can hire an attorney to appear in court for you. Not sure where you got this but you should contact an attorney in an area where this happened. In other words, if it was Daytona, then there, Ft. Lauderdale, then there, Destin, etc. I practice in Tampa Bay so feel free to contact me if it is in this area.
