Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Concerned pet owner

My boyfriend and I bought a puppy together 10 months ago. He already had a dog, Chase, before we met and since we are both firefighters and work 24 hour shifts he already had Chase enrolled in daycare at an animal hospital/ animal boarding center 1 mile from his fire station. Therefore, our new puppy was enrolled there as well. He registered her in his name only but we split all costs concerning both dogs. We broke up and I moved out nearly 4 months ago. I took the puppy and had her re-registered to my name because I now live in another county. He had made numerous attempts to get me back over the 4 months and every time I turned him down he would threaten to take me to small claims court for the dog. The last time I spoke with him I told him never to call or email me again, and I blocked his email. 3 weeks later I was served paperwork for small claims court and he is stating that I stole the dog and is suing me for $1,100.00, when we only paid $200.00 for her. I know he could care less about the dog and is only being spiteful, however I am far too attached to her and can't stand the thoughts of losing her. We are scheduled for a pre-trial tomorrow morning. What are the chances that I will lose my dog?

Re: Concerned pet owner

I am a pet lover too. You should be able to mediate this issue and basically buy him out. He will get some money and you can keep the dog. I would offer him 200.00 for the dog.
