Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

What constitutes a common pocket knife in Florida? I've gathered that the locking mechanism is immaterial provided and the opening mechanism must be manual. I have questions about the length, the blade shape, and the handle material. Which components make a blade an "uncommon tactical" knife?

Florida Statute 790.001 covers this topic. For the most part only those knifes which have a mechanical/automatic opening mechanism will be construed as a uncommon tactical knife. Therefore, the common Benchmade knives and other knifes used by military and fire rescue personnel are illegal for common carry unless you are a disabled person who only has use of one hand. As a general reference, these types of mechanical knives and double edged knives/dirks are illegal in Florida to carry.
