Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
continuance
I am currently involved in petitioning for a permanent injunction and when I went to court, the other party's attorney filed for a continuance. I have not received any mail prior to court date notifying me of this motion. What are the rules in filing for a continuance and how many are granted in a row.

Re: continuance
It's all up to the judge. Some judges even require continuances when attorneys get involved or when attorneys know they'll be calling a certain number of witness (say, five or more) because they want to clear extra time on their calendars. Because these hearings get set so quickly, the parties often don't get advanced notice.
