Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

i went to court oct 8/2010 for use or possession of drug paraphernalia and the judge told me i have to pay a fine of $486.00 by feb 8/2011 i was wondering if i could do community service to pay off my fines? cause i have a three month old son and i am disable i recieve ssi and thats my only income

Every jurisdiction is different. Some have a standard rule that allows. Others require you to ask the judge if that is an option. Usually, most, but not necessarily all, court costs can be resolved with community service. If you are on probation, talk to your P.O. If not, ask the clerk if it is an option and they may be able to assist you or they may set a motion in front of the judge to ask permission to do that option.
