Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My cousin opened a bank account in my name and wrote 2 bad checks to Publix. I didn't know anything about it until I went to the driver's license office and got arrested. I have been in contact with the public defender's office but I want to know if I should consult a personal lawyer also. She has a history of doing things like this and she is currently on felony probation for it. Can I sue her for all the money? Will this remain on my record even though I didn't do it? Can I sue her for the money to get my record expunged because it costs a lot?

Yes you can sue your cousin for all the money lost, including expungement costs. It probably will remain on your record but you should contact the bank to make as well as Publix to make sure they know you did not open this account. Your bank will be especially helpful in straightening this out for you. You should contact a civil attorney about suing your cousin.
