Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Criminal appeal

Through ineffective counsel and forced confession, my nephew has be sentenced to a mandatory term for a crime he did not commit; w/o funds, how do we get someone to file an appeal to reverse the courts judgement? Discovery docs point to a rush to judgement and many unasked questions by the court appointed attorney; attorney admitted to the judge that he did not have time to properly conduct this case because of his dedication to another pending case. Judge proceeded to with her judgement, however. My nephew is a young single father, who has worked everyday of his adult life and has never been in trouble with the law.

How can we fight this injustice with little or no funds?

Re: Criminal appeal

you can contact your local legal aid office and speak with an attorney there. sometimes it's even worth a shot going to a private attorney's office and telling them you would need to have the case done pro bono. lastly, your nephew can write his own appeal. if the case deals with ineffective counsel he should be able to accurrately draft such a document and explain why he wasn't given a fair trial.

He is entitled to a free appeal from the public defender. Good luck.
