Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

criminal background question

Hi, I recently applied for a job. The application asked Have you ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor yes or no. My answer was no because my charge was Adjudication with held. The employer basically told me that Adjudication with held means convicted felon, i tried to explain to her that is not what it mean she went to tell me im a Convicted Felon and that she would not be able to hire me. Please advise me. Thanks

Re: criminal background question

You're right. Adjudication withheld means exactly what you said; you weren't convicted. Your potential employer is incorrect to categorize you as a "convicted felon". (And that's assuming this is about a felony.)
