an elderly friend rec.a court date for a bad check, not ever being in trouble didnt understand so didnt go to court later rec. letter re a warrent for FTA this has been over a yr ago actually her daughter wrote the check in question what is the best way to handle this without her actually going to jail? shes 70 yrs old

She needs to speak with the State Attorney's Office and advise them what happened. They might be willing to reset the case before the court.
Failing such, she might want to seek the assistance of an attorney who can have the matter brought back before the court to be tried on the merits. She must understand that she will have to provide information regarding her daughter if she is claiming that her daughter did this.

the best thing would be to hire a lawyer to schedule a court date to clear it up.
