Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Criminal Law

I have been convicted of organized

fraud and grand theft (referring to a

franchise business deal) and am

clueless of why. I am also not versed

on the legal system! I spent a night

in jail and was bonded out, but was

never asked if I was guilty or not and

I do not know if and when I am going

to get appointed a public defender. I

called the courthouse and am 'not in

the system yet.' Please fill me in on

what to do next! I have no money

for a lawyer and NEED help! Thank

you! I greatly appreciate all help you

can give!

Re: Criminal Law

Do you mean yo've been arrested for (not convicted of) organized fraud and grand theft?

You really can't afford NOT to have a good criminal lawyer, and you need to go see one right away.

Your next step will be that you will receive a court date notice for an arraignment, which is an opportunity to plead guilty, not guilty, or no contest. You may also be appointed a public defender on that court date, but you should still consider getting a private lawyer immediately. Your charges are extremely serious.
