Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I'd like to know if the following is a criminal offense or on that I can pursue with civil litigation.
A friend of mine had closed a telephone account and was no longer using the number, thought I didn't know that. This person had a history of emotional issues and I had been sending text messages regarding this.
The new/current owner of that phone number, unrelated to me or my friend, who had received some of these text messages from me to my friend, decided one day to play a prank by sending me text messages pretending to be my friend. The messages were convincing and terribly alarming in that they threatened suicide. For 4 days this continued until I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Finally the "parent" of the person who was impersonating my friend called to explain the whole thing and apologize.
IF this illegal in Florida?

You need to ask an attorney in your area that handles civil law.
