Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
i was criminally assaulted by a florida highway patrolman approximately two and a half years ago. i currently suffer bodily and psycologically from this. my attorney has moved forward with the suit against the highway patrol and the officer. yesterday the attorny for the state made an offer that would represent less than half of what my expenses have been. because of the damage the petroleman did to me, i will have ongoing problems the rest of my life. for the first time yesterday my attorney informed me that a law governing this in florida plased a cap of $100.000 on what could be recovered frim the state. is this this true?

This is not a criminal law question, but Florida only allows for $100,000 to be recovered. Sometimes, though, the legislature will approve a bill that allows for more than that in specific cases. Talk more about this with your attorney.
